Well, after I realized that the photos on the camera were from last fall, I realized we are a little slow on the uptake. I apologize to all the relatives friends and family that check the blog so faithfully. We have not abandoned you! Liam is almost 2 and we cannot believe it. He is talking talking talking and wanting to sit on his potty. Lately he loves to go naked and is all around cute. He loves to say night night to all his friends and family as he is going to sleep. He is so affectionate and loves to give lovies. He loves playing with legos and building things and trips to see the chickens around the corner. We are looking forward to summer and long days outside. Hope you are all well.

Well, winter has descended upon us sooner than prepared for. Hopefully we won't get snowed in like last Christmas. Fortunately Liam is surviving the cold with his bunting and sunny days despite freezing temperatures. Snow showers are in the forecast for Sunday morning with a low of 21 degrees and high of 34. So we are off to buy snow clothes and stock up on food tomorrow! Here are some recent pics. Wondering how you all are preparing for the holidays. . . . . oh we are sending this last photo in to GQ :)

San Diego

Just got back from our getaway and had a great time. The weather was great, and the food was better. In-N-Out, Miguel's, steak and crab legs, and Urbn pizza. Hung out by the pool, the coolest place in/around the house. Liam honed his walking skills and I'm pretty sure, got his first tan. We spent a lot of time with family, my brother and his wife, and saw both sets of grandparents. Here's a few pics my mom took.

Lots of new photos of the summer (now that summer is over). Liam has had a great time outdoors crawling around naked, riding his bike around the block and chasing after Irish. His Radio Flyer has allowed him to visit the chickens, chase the kitties in the neighborhood, visit the "big truck" around the corner and pick flowers to take home to Momma. We even had a yard sale with Dashiell and Ophelia, which Liam loved. We are looking forward to coming down to see Grandma and Papa G this week in San Diego.

Been working a few late nights on this billboard with the Nike Golf team here at W+K. It went up on Tuesday and it came out great. There is room for number fifteen, and we'll see if Tiger can come through. The weather is playing a huge factor in the tournament and has been wreaking havoc on trying to plan this billboard. For W+K Founder's Day, my friend Denise asked me to participate in her re-creation of Olive's dance scene from the movie. Here is the video. The Dad was played by Matt Murphy, the Uncle by Brian Troyer and the Mom by Sarah Starr. I play the brother. Yes, that's me in a white shirt and wig doing the funky chicken.

My mom's uncle Bill died last night at the glorious age of 92. He was one of the funniest and most fun-loving people I've ever had the chance to meet. He was one of the original roller derby members from the 1930s. Roller Derby was invented during the time of the great depression as a way to take people's mind off of their troubles. I remember going to his house in Palm Springs and him showing me all of the old derby films that he was transferring to VHS cassettes to preserve them. He would show me his stance that he said was inspired by speed (ice) skating; a low, sweeping back-and-forth motion. That's what he said gave him all his speed. I was so fascinated by all of this, and he gave me an autographed 8x10 glossy signed, Bill "Flash" Bogash. He participated in the recent documentary, Roller Jam: Roller Derby Reborn, as an interviewee.

He and Aunt Georgia owned a restaurant-bar in the 70s on Sunset and Santa Monica that I'm told was frequented by some of Hollywood's celebrities.

Liam finally got his first tooth! Bottom row, middle. Let me tell you, that thing is sharp!

Liz took him to his 9 month check up and things are great. He's average in height and weight, but is in the 110 percentile for cuteness. "Grandma G" (aka Grandma Nelson) is coming up for a few days on Wednesday, and Liam is really excited to see her. He looks at Grandma and Grandpa G's photo every day.

Daddy's birthday is coming up this weekend, and on his wish list is a new lens for the Nikon D40X. I borrowed the one I'm looking at from a friend, and it really makes the camera sing. So much clearer and contrast-y. Here are a few shots:

Liam got up earlier than usual today, 5am. Most of the time he is up at 5:30 or 6, but much to Mommy and Daddy's dismay today was not one of those days. Getting up this morning held a very special treat. Liam fell asleep in his high-chair, and it was the cutest thing ever as evidenced below:

Liz is on her way back from Salem and she needed a path from the curb to the front door. There is 12-18" of snow in drifts around the house. I'm certainly no expert, but we have probably gotten over a foot of snow in the last couple of days.

Liam went next door to hang out with his buddy, Dash, who is a couple of weeks older than him. There was lots of hugging, kissing, laughing, smiling, spitting and flatulance during the visit. We also saw Dashiell attempt to crawl for the first time. Liam just flailed his arms and legs liked a beached whale.

Today is the first day back in the office. I'm very jet-lagged. Hungry at weird times, and woke up SUPER early today. Above is what I was out in Orlando doing. I had my first shoot for the new Nike Golf ad campaign, and had the pleasure of shooting Tiger Woods. He was very cordial, prompt, and easy to work with. That's me in the white swoosh hat.

I really miss Liz and Liam. They are staying down in Salem with Grandma Erickson for the week. I leave on Friday again for our W+K Studio Retreat, and I'll be hanging with the posse through Saturday night.

Since I'm a bachelor for the next two evenings, I'll try and get a gallery of pics up from our trip to San Diego and some updated shots of Liam.

I'm in Orlando to art direct a photoshoot for a couple of days. Working with a great photographer, Jeff Minton. The shoot is at Isleworth, home of professional golfers, professional athletes and ridiculously rich people. You would not believe the size of the homes, and the care of their lawns.

We are at home and trying to figure out our feeding schedule. Lots of lost sleep. Lots of great first-time moments. Liam opened his eyes and looked around for the first time in his new room that Grandma and Grandpa Nelson graciously painted the ceiling for us.

We had an amnio today to check the fetal lung development, and the results came back great. We have an appointment scheduled for a C-section tomorrow at 12p. We should officially be parents by 12:15p. HOORAY!

Baby Update:

Liz is feeling MUCH better, and is able to get up and around the house. She has been moving about without much pain, and has significantly reduced the amount of pain medication she has been taking. We'll find out at the end of the week when the scheduled delivery date will be. Right now, it is looking like the last week of May.

Baby situation:
Liz is still having pain, but got some relief from a nerve block. They gave her a high epidural and then fed a catheter up to her ruptured disc in her back, and then gave her a shot of steroids to calm the tissues and then a shot of a long-acting numbing agent. We'll be at 34 weeks tomorrow (5-6-08), so we are looking at an early delivery in about 2-3 weeks. The doctors are thinking that would be the best course of action at this point to relieve Liz's pain and begin to ween her and the baby off of the pain meds that she has been taking. We should have a date sometime this week of when it all will go down.

Basement:
Nearly done. Construction is done, furniture and big-screen TV has been delivered, just waiting to hook up a few wires to get all the lights and plugs working. The next step would be to move all of the stuff down there and out of the baby's room, and throw a little movie night. Final pictures to come soon, once everything is set up and dressed.

W+K Founder's Day

At work, we had our annual party celebrating the founding of the agency on April Fool's Day. This was the 26th anniversary and the activities including community service in the morning (I elected to plant shrubs and do trash pick-up on the east side of the river), and the evening was a private party at Berbati's. It was a good time with friends and coworkers. See all the pictures here.

The basement has hit a snag. Home Depot screwed up twice on ordering the window that we are having replaced, so that has put the rest of the project on hold while our contractor is waiting for that to come in. After the window goes in, it is just a little bit of drywall, installing the pre-hung doors, priming, and painting. It will then be up to me to finishing wiring the lights and the rest of the electrical, and building the shelves and desk. The new TV arrives sometime this afternoon, so I'll get that set up upstairs to watch the Lakers game on ESPN tonight. Can't wait until everything is finished up down there, and I can move onto getting the baby's room set up.
